Where It All Started
Musician Mixers is the evolution of the original short-term band concept started by three friends in a Seattle garage. It was a simple idea: learn, play and perform music in a fun and recreational environment for friends, family and community. What began as a handful of live events with rotating singers (most, first timers to the stage) who rehearsed and then performed cover songs with a backing band, eventually transformed and blossomed into the Urban Music Farm; a city-wide, music-making community for recreational musicians with an impressive roster of talented recreational players and performance showcases. Today, Musician Mixers is a continued celebration of that collective music-making spirit but focused on local-area professionals. By honoring past greats and re-presenting their iconic classics we can discover and foster future greats while honoring seasoned veterans and transform local-area music scenes.
Whose Behind the Door
Tom Tafelsky was originally the founder and creative programming director of the Urban Music Farm: Seattle's Recreational Musician Community. As a self-taught drummer he believes strongly in the power of music-making to transform lives and bring people together. Tom is the creative force behind Musician Mixers; a musician community model focused on unique ways for professional musicians to further support themselves. Musician Mixers mission is to provide a live performance platform that is financially supportive, musically collaborative, non-competitive and most importantly, community centered.
